Cruise Season: Year Round
Itineraries: 3 & 4-night Bahamas, 7-night Western Caribbean, 7-night Eastern Caribbean

NCL CRUISES FROM PORT CANAVERAL
|
Ships in Market: Norwegian Sun
Cruise Season: October thru early-April
Itineraries: 3 & 4-night Bahamas, 7-night Western Caribbean, 7-night Eastern Caribbean
Highlights: The itineraries tend to include very good ports of call; Great Stirrup Cay, NCL's private island, is featured on many itineraries; the Norwegian Sun was purpose-built for Freestyle Cruising and features 9 restaurants; NCL's children's program is well-regarded.
Drawbacks: Some complaints that lower-category (cheaper) cabins tend to be small; Freestyle Cruising (dine anywhere, anytime) works well with parties of up to 5 or 6, but, parties of 7+ can find it difficult as many of the tables are not set up for larger groups; Given that NCL is only in the market on a seasonal basis, and, offers 3, 4 and 7-night itineraries with 1 ship, you must select your vacation date carefully to ensure they have the itinerary you want when you want to cruise.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISES FROM PORT CANAVERAL
|
Ships in Market: Freedom of the Seas, Monarch of the Seas
Cruise Season: Year Round
Itineraries: 3 & 4-night Bahamas, 7-night Western Caribbean, 7-night Eastern Caribbean
Highlights: Good prices; Freedom of the Seas is the newer ship with amenities like FlowRider surf park, ice skating rink, 3 alternative dining restaurants (Chops, Portofino & Johnny Rockets); very nice private island, Cococay, which often tips the scale when choosing between the short Bahamas cruises on Carnival vs Royal Caribbean; highly regarded Adventure Ocean kid's program; and, new as of December 2010, DreamWorks characters (from Madagascar, Shrek & Kung Fu Panda movies) will be a feature on Royal Caribbean.
Drawbacks: Monarch of the Seas (Bahamas cruises) is one of the oldest ships in the market, however, it does have the Asian-fusion alternative dining (a rarity on older ships); Cococay (Royal Caribbean's private island) tends to have long-lines at lunch (plan accordingly).
